Health Department Short Term Rental Permit Information
All short-term rentals will require an annual health permit, per the West Virginia
General Sanitation Rule. The Fayette County Health Department is the entity
responsible for this. Permits will be issued on an annual basis, valid January 1 –
December 31.
Owners will be required to submit an application (1 per property) to Health Department,
fee is based on number of bedrooms. Once reviewed, the Health Department will
coordinate with owner or property manager to complete the inspections on any units
within our county. Once inspected, the owner will receive a copy of the health permit to
file and display according to their standards.
We will maintain a record of permits. Proof of valid health permit is required to remain
eligible and open for reservations. Please note that change of ownership or major
